Grateful We’re Home Safe

I am oh so grateful we’re back home safe!!!

What a ride! We went home from my sis’s home and the first taxi my eldest sis got for us was small and what I actually did not prefer to ride in that kind of taxi becasue they use LPG and based on our experience, I am afraid of the smell and possible inhalation of gas inside the aircon taxi while the ride home is quite far and long with our lil boy usually sleeping on the way home. But we ended up riding that taxi until the highway to get another taxi. I am grateful that first taxi driver was considerate enough though I obviously sensed he was disappointed. But I won’t take any risk anymore. The last time we rode one all the way home, my head ached when we got home. I had to open the windows of the taxi to let some fresh air in anyway it was at night and so the city streets won’t be as polluted as during the busy day.

Then we got to transfer to a bigger and better taxi. But as soon as I opened the door in the front passenger seat to put some of our things there, I noticed there was already a driver not in uniform with a lot of tattoo! But since we need to get home and if we choose we might take longer to get home with the lil boy really sleepy now. So off we go. The driver as he started to drive reached out to something hanging in front of him and from what I assumed he made the sign of the cross. Okay at least he is God-fearing I assume. He also turned on the radio and it was louder but I just tolerated that. Good thing my head was not aching anymore today. But oh my when we got to the highway, he I realized he was driving faster than other taxi drivers and worse was that he was changing lanes as much as he can pass through and we have a lil boy on board who luckily was able to sleep despite the loud music which am grateful is not hard rock music and quite tolerable.

I just thought when he started driving changing lanes oh so often that maybe we would reach home faster anyway. But halfway through I was starting to make the sign of the cross hoping he would see me doing that and would sense that I am getting afraid of his style of driving. But hubby in his mind had a different thought. He did not say anything about the loud music coz what he told me when we got home was that he already noticed the driver must be a little drunk and sleepy. At one point when we were already near the mall near our place, he thought the driver was really sleepy. Hubby did not say anything during the ride. He just held on tight hugging the lil boy who was sleeping during the rest of the ride home.

But at this point too, I had asked the driver to turn down the volume of the radio. He turned it off totally and just said he did not realize the lil boy was already sleeping. Okay at least he got it. I was afraid he might But I had already made the sign of the cross many times and praying all the while that we will get home safely. I am grateful at least he avoided the busy street last night since it was party night here especially at the street.

When I saw the church near our place, I made another sign of the cross thanking God we made it back home safe. What a ride it was! It was driving in a loud and fast car indeed! Lesson learned, next time we should call for a reliable taxi service going home and remind our sis to get the big taxi from a known taxi company.

Hubby and I were equally relieved and grateful we all got home safe! Thank you Lord!!!

Be Grateful! Be Rich!
